About Lorna
I am 23 years old, and I am planning on doing a MRes at the University of Liverpool in English Language with a research proposal on language and gender in the French language. I am a drama enthusiast and have performed in plays throughout my time at university alongside growing up with a passion for Speech and Drama. From the ages of 14-17 I worked for my drama teacher as an assistant for ages 4-13. I am passionate about learning and teaching. While on my year abroad near Marseille in France I tutored a French family (ages 40, 17 and 15) together in English. I like to be creative in how I teach and shape the lessons based on the students and what works for them.

My lessons are flexible and catered to the needs of a student and their goals. I taught English as a foreign language in France to primary school students; these lessons often had a mixture of lecture type teaching for the first 5/10 minutes to make clear the aims and key concept then move to interactive/practical followed by a reflective exercise at the end. With my previous students I focused on oral and aural skills from ages 4-8 and allocated some time to written skills for 8-9 year olds. My approach is always to focus on the goal and key concepts and allow the student’s personalities and skills to shine.
