About Carol
As a mother to four children and a home-working tutor, I understand the importance of flexibility and balance. In my free time you can find me building with Lego or working on various crafts projects. These creative pursuits not only bring me joy but also help me develop the patience, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills that I bring to my tutoring. I am driven to help students understand and appreciate mathematics, and I find it rewarding to see them grow in confidence and ability. There's nothing quite like seeing the 'lightbulb moment' when a student finally understands a concept they have been struggling with.

My approach to tutoring is centred around creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment, where students feel empowered to ask questions and explore complex concepts at their own pace. My goal is not just to help students understand the material, but to foster a love of learning that extends beyond our lessons. Each lesson begins with a review of previous material, followed by a clear explanation of new concepts and guided practice exercises. We will work together to set goals and track progress, celebrating successes and identifying areas for improvement. With a degree in Physics and over 10 years of experience as a Secondary Science teacher, I've developed a strong foundation in scientific principles and pedagogy. Additionally, I've spent over 20 years as a private Mathematics tutor, helping students of all ages and skill levels achieve their goals. My extensive experience has equipped me with the ability to tailor my teaching approach to meet the unique needs and learning styles of each student. My standard lesson length is 1 hour, allowing us to focus on specific topics or areas of difficulty in-depth. However, I'm flexible and can adjust lesson lengths to suit your needs and schedule. My lessons are designed for students from Year 7 (age 11) upwards, covering a range of mathematical topics and skills. Whether you're looking to build a strong foundation, catch up on missed work, or preparing for GCSE/A Level exams, I'm here to support you in achieving your goals. I also have extensive experience working with students who have additional learning needs (dyslexia, ADHD, autism)
