I believe experience is what separates good instruction from great instruction—and that comes with time in the game. To truly guide a student, a coach needs to have lived through the swings, the struggles, the breakthroughs, and the adjustments that golf demands. That perspective can’t be faked. My background—both playing and teaching—gives me that depth. I’ve seen it, felt it, and worked through it, which allows me to communicate the right cues at the right time, in a way that actually sticks. In my lessons, everything is built around the individual. We start with a clear understanding of your tendencies, ball flight, and goals. From there, I simplify the swing into a few key feels and positions that you can actually repeat—not a bunch of confusing thoughts. I focus heavily on face control, path, and solid contact, using simple drills and feedback so you know exactly what’s happening and why. The goal is always progress you can see and feel right away, while building something that holds up long term. I’ve even had a couple of students who previously worked with a coach connected to Phil Mickelson, and they ended up making better progress with my approach. That’s not said to knock anyone—it’s just a reminder that real teaching is about connection, clarity, and results. It’s reassuring to know I can hold my own at that level. At the end of the day, I truly love what I do. Teaching comes naturally to me, and honestly, I get more satisfaction from coaching than I do from playing. When a student finally compresses the ball the right way and you see that big smile hit their face—that’s everything. That’s a good day in my book.
