I am a midwife in South Africa for over 14 years and started nursing in 2003. I love to teach mothers on safe care during pregnancy. I am a mother of 3 beautiful children and love them to the core.

Antenatal clinic visit should be done after you have missed your second period or menses. The reason for this visit is to establish the possibility of pregnancy. At this visit, various tests will be conducted in order to rule out any anticipated health complications for this pregnancy. We start with a prognostic test for confirmation. Urine analysis to rule out urinary tract infection, vital signs, Rhesus, hemoglobin, syphilis, HIV, glucose test, etc.
