About Marissa
I am a biomedical scientist and German is my native language. I have experience in teaching English and Latin through private lessons from 2006 in Germany. I have further developed my teaching skills, as a teaching assistant at the university and at an English private school in China. I have applied this knowledge to help my students gain a good basis in German on which they can expand their skills further. I provided guidance for the levels A0 to B2. I have experience with students with disabilities (ADHD, Autism and Dyslexia).

Do you just want tutoring to pass a good exam? Or an interactive private lesson, with themes that you find interesting? Everything is possible. Together we can make the grammar understandable for you. Additional grammar practice assignments next to school and homework, written or oral, depending on your weaknesses can be created. You understand the grammar, but you do not have the feeling for the language, then we can put the focus on vocabulary and sentences. This can be explained for written, oral or both skills. How are lessons taught? Preferably in your study style! Together we look at what study type you are: visual (photo/pictures), kinesthetic (through movement), audio (hearing) or verbal (speaking/writing). We can discuss together what an exercise assignment can look like for you. We can also, in consultation, search for tools online and offline that work for you.

Perfect! Mijn zoon heeft het hele schooljaar niet hoger gescoord dan gemiddeld een 4. Dankzij Marissa heeft hij voor zijn herexamen een 6 behaald.
Marissa werkt doelgericht, rustig en duidelijk. Ze brengt haar eigen oefeningen mee en zorgt ervoor dat het ook nog leuk is!- Vincent's zoon was geconcentreerd en gemotiveerd in de lessen en had zijn wensen duidelijk gecommuniceerd voor de examensvorbereiding.Marissa's response :
Perfect! Marissa stopt superveel tijd en moeite in de lessen en vormt ze helemaal naar jouw behoefte. Zo oefent ze tijdens de les precies de dingen die jij wilt leren, of waar je behoefte aan hebt. Daarnaast kan ze grammatica goed uitleggen en heeft ze veel handige overzichten en oefeningen. Na elke les maakt ze gepersonaliseerde huiswerkopdrachten of woordenlijsten op een oefenwebsite, waardoor je ook buiten de les om veel leert. Echt een aanrader!

Excellent! We hebben een prettige samenwerking. Marissa geeft goede en snelle feedback op het huiswerk. Voor het spreken van Duits heeft ze me goed weten te sturen zodat ik als beginner dit ook durfde in de lessen. Ze heeft me weer een stap vooruit geholpen.
- Tamara is duidelijk in haar doelen en wensen. Ik heb haar als een enthousiast en gedreven student ervaren. Er was veel inzet bij de opdrachten te zien waardoor zij veel in de taal groeide. Her approach has helped him massively in being able to grasp the fundamentals of the German language, although he still has a long way to go!
Marissa was kind enough to switch the lessons to an online format during the height if the Covid 19 problems in the spring, this allowed our son to continue with his his lessons at a time when school was closed and we feared he would fall behind.

Ik ervaar Marissa als zeer prettig. Wegens mijn slechthorendheid heb ik meer moeite met het uitspreken van Engels. Marissa weet diverse methoden in te zetten waardoor ik steeds vloeiender Engels ben gaan spreken. Daarnaast leert ze me veel over de Engelse taal en vind ik haar lessen erg leerzaam.
Marissa is een rustig persoon en duidelijk in haar woorden.
Ze maakt een plan met de student samen hoe ze een traject gaan volgen.
Marissa past zich makkelijk aan in de wensen van haar studenten. Als de student iets niet begrijpt dan past ze de strategie aan met bijvoorbeeld visuele en praktische middelen of met kleuren om de grammatica aan te duiden.
Als haar partner met ADHD vind ik het mooi om te zien dat ze de tactieken die wij thuis gebruiken ook in de praktijk meeneemt.View more recommendations
