About Ryan
Hello! My name is Ryan, a recent graduate of San Marino High School and incoming first-year student at Georgetown University, where I plan to double major in finance and accounting and minor in applied mathematics. I have six years of tutoring and general instruction experience in elementary to high school level English, middle school to high school level math, business administration, and nonprofit management and operations. I am natively proficient in both Mandarin Chinese and English, so I can instruct students in these languages if necessary.
I have taken the official SAT I, PSAT, and SAT II exams once each and attained the following scores:
- SAT I: 1560 total score; 800 math; 760 reading & writing; 22 essay
- PSAT: 1500 total score; 760 math; 740 reading & writing
- SAT II Chinese w/ Listening: 800

I adjust my teaching style based on a student’s short-term and long-term goals. For a student who simply needs to do well on a standardized test or a final exam within a relatively short time frame, my priority is to ensure that students have exposure, preparation, and accuracy as they tackle a variety of questions formats. For a student who wants to study a subject of interest in-depth, on the other hand, my focus shifts to helping the student comprehend the subject first on a fundamental level and then through advanced, specific sub-topics. Regardless of your goal might be, my curriculum and instruction will adapt to your personal learning style to maximize both your performance and learning. After each lesson, you will walk away with a more nuanced and critical understanding of the subject, which will help you excel in the real-world application of your learning.
