About Freddie
I'm Freddie, and I'm currently doing a BSc in Physics at Loughborough University. I have a Physics A level, so teaching it at GCSE is something I'm confident and comfortable doing. I got a grade 8 in Physics at GCSE myself, so I know the material well and remember exactly where it tends to trip people up. I tutor because I like the moment a difficult idea finally clicks for someone — I've always been one for working slightly outside of comfort zones, as I believe overcoming a challenge is the best way to learn, and I'm good at finding a different way to explain something until it makes sense. My aim is for students to leave a session actually understanding the topic, not just holding an answer they'll forget by next week.

My first lesson works a bit like a doctor's consultation: rather than assuming where a student is, I diagnose it with a short mix of questions to see which topics are solid and which aren't, then build a plan tailored to them. I'm big on explaining things down to the core — why something actually happens, not just stating that it does — because a surface-level understanding gets forgotten by the time it's needed, whereas understanding the reasoning is what makes it stick. I'm a problem solver at heart, so with physics I focus on teaching students how to approach calculations, rearrange equations confidently, and break a problem down into a repeatable system, rather than just memorising facts. Lessons are one hour, online, and I keep to fixed weekly slots so it becomes a proper routine. Sessions are aimed at GCSE Physics students.
