About Laila
Hi, I'm a 21-year-old Accounting and Finance graduate with a passion for helping students become more confident in Maths.
I graduated with a 2:2 in Accounting and Finance, where I developed strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills. I have always had an interest in Maths and understand first-hand that it can sometimes feel challenging or overwhelming, particularly when preparing for important exams.
During my own studies, I had a tutor for A Level Maths, so I understand from a student's perspective how valuable the right tutor can be. Having someone who is patient, approachable and able to explain a difficult topic in a different way made a real difference to my learning. This experience has given me a genuine understanding of what it's like to need a little extra support, and I want to provide that same supportive experience to my students.
I enjoy helping people understand things that they initially find difficult, and I believe that with the right explanation and plenty of practice, students can become much more confident in their abilities.
My approach is friendly and patient, and I will always encourage students to ask questions and take their time when working through a problem. My aim is to create a comfortable environment where students don't feel embarrassed about getting something wrong, but instead see mistakes as part of the learning process.
I'm looking forward to working with students and helping them build their confidence and achieve their Maths goals!

My approach to tutoring is friendly, patient and personalised to each student's needs. I believe the most effective way to learn Maths is to understand the reasoning behind each method rather than simply memorising formulae or procedures.
I begin by identifying the areas the student is finding difficult and then work through the topic step-by-step, using clear explanations and worked examples. I encourage students to attempt questions themselves, as this helps build both understanding and confidence. Where appropriate, I also use past-paper and exam-style questions to help students become familiar with how topics are tested and how to approach different types of questions.
Lessons are typically 1 hour long, although I can be flexible depending on the student's age, concentration and individual requirements. Lessons can take place online, making them convenient for students wherever they are located.
I hold a degree in Accounting and Finance and have a strong numerical background. I am particularly interested in helping students who may lack confidence in Maths or need additional support alongside their schoolwork.
My lessons are aimed at GCSE Maths students, generally aged 14–16, covering both Foundation and Higher level topics. I can help with understanding difficult topics, homework, revision, exam preparation and building confidence in Maths.
My goal is to create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, while gradually becoming more confident and independent when tackling Maths problems.
