About Kirstie
I have much experience in many types of literature including 'Jane Eyre'- Charlotte Brontë, 'Romeo & Juliet'- William Shakespeare, 'To Kill A Mockingbird'- Harper Lee, 'Educating Rita'- Willy Russell, 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'- William Shakespeare and much poetry, which I've always enjoyed, having done 'Anthology War & Conflict' at GCSE. Teaching is very rewarding. Seeing someone achieve a personal goal is really lovely, especially when you've been a part of that journey. I've always been a natural at it. I understand that people learn at different paces and think differently. I focus on the way you think and try to channel your learning to suit you. Teaching is more than explaining a concept- it's HOW you explain it which applies a lot in English exams too. I hope to help you develop this skill to read between the lines of the text you're reading to facilitate this.

First and foremost, we address topics YOU feel you need help with. My main goal is to boost your confidence and knowledge in areas you lack simultaneously. For literature, I like to take you through each chapter or scene to ensure you understand it in depth to boost your ability to interpret the text. I try to embed your English Language skills into this as it can be tricky to revise for this, it is better to develop this as a natural skill alongside your literature skills. I do run through test papers casually- I tend to give this to you to try on your own and allow us to work through this together. This helps you to have a safe area to address your concerns with exams before running into assessments. It teaches you to understand what the question is asking of you, how to break it down and understand the grading system. I will also work alongside the curriculum of your school and exam board to ensure you are well covered on topics across the spectrum, the books you cover and filter interactive sessions on this within our lessons together. We can take lessons as fast or as slow as you need- our first session will be really helpful to understand what you specifically need from our sessions.
