About Emily

Hello, my name is Emily and I am a B.Ed certified teacher with over 12 years of teaching experience, including 3–4 years focused on ESL. I’ve worked with teens and young adults in both Canada and abroad. One of the things I’m most proud of in my teaching career so far is the positive connections I have built with my students. My lessons are designed to be fun, engaging, and productive—a space where learners feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and gaining real confidence in their English.

I welcome learners of all levels—from high school students and college applicants to young adults preparing for job interviews or IELTS. When I’m not teaching, you’ll find me out biking, rock climbing, or doing some painting. I also love to write poetry, travel to new places, and connect with people through art and movement. I aim to bring that same creativity and presence into my teaching here—and I’m excited to share it with you.

About the lesson

What makes me stand out is my teaching experience in Mainland China and my ability to adapt lessons to a student's interests and learning style. I’ve taught in diverse cultural settings and developed ESL curriculum for both academic and conversational learners. I know how to make lessons meaningful, fun, and directly relevant to your specific goals.

As a certified teacher, my lessons are designed to be engaging, fun and student-centered. I take a communicative and interactive approach, applying a mix of real-world materials and personalized feedback to make sure every lesson is meaningful and effective.

1. Warm-up conversation to build fluency and rapport
2. A main skill focus (e.g., listening, grammar, vocabulary, writing)
3. Interactive activities, Role play, dialogue practice or games
4. Review and feedback, with suggestions for self-study
