About Jess

HI! I am a teacher who is passionate about what I do I love helping people learn to love the world around them! I have taught in regular and special education classes for years, have taught in a museum and a zoo too! I'm willing to help you find out how your brain works best and use it to get through school and find what inspires you.

About the lesson

I can help you learn what you're struggling with in a fun way! Sometimes the block with learning is because you haven't found anything interesting about the topic. Our brains are hardwired to get rewards- so if you aren't learning something, we just need to find how to trick your brain into thinking it's getting a reward! I love helping students have "light bulb moments" where they finally get what they needed to learn the subject. When a student has told me they hate reading, I tell them they just haven't found the right story yet. It's my job to help you find things you are passionate about and inspire a love of learning!

I can help you learn through stories, cultural discussions and activities, and more. I love "webbing" a curriculum- this is finding how the topic is related to other topics. By the time we are finished, you will have a spider's web of knowledge about a topic! We can incorporate art, nature, animals, or other activities to help you really grasp a concept. The sky's the limit on how you will learn- I'm just there to help you along the way!

I have taught middle school subjects for years, and have also taught special education classes in Math, Science, ELA, Social Studies, and Science, so I have many unique ways I can help you learn what you need to move through your classes and be successful!Spend some time with me and we can see how I can help!
