Oscar was able to greatly help me with my preparations for the OCR History A level exam. We met twice weekly, and he helped me greatly not just with the content (the topic for my exam was 19th Century German nationalism, something he was very knowledgeable of), but also with useful advice and techniques to help me to perform to my full ability in the exam. These included both memorisation and revision strategies, as well as looking at past paper questions and thinking about time management in the exam. I was particularly impressed by his attention to detail when it came to the mark scheme for the exam. This meant that he was able to advise me best on how to write my answers in the exam in such a way that best satisfied what the examiners were looking for. Oscar was also able to be very helpful on my coursework for the exam, which was a 5,000 word extended research paper.

I have been Oscar's IB History Higher Level student for the past year. During this year, I have seen steady improvement in both the quality and grade achieved in my coursework and timed in-class essays.

Oscar approaches class using a variety of different teaching methods. Through the aid of videos, timelines and IB past papers, Oscar has managed to elevate my interest in history, as well as enhance my analytical and argumentative skills. The work he assigns me also constantly increases in level of complexity, which ensures that class is always intellectually challenging.

I especially appreciate the time Oscar takes before major exams to go through different study skills and methods. Although facts and dates aren't all that makes up a good history essay, they are still necessary in ensuring a good history grade. He has taught me a variety of different memory tricks to aid me in this aspect, and these techniques have actually been incredibly useful not only in my study of history but also in the variety of other subjects I take at school.

I also really enjoy the way his classes are focussed around the IB curriculum. We constantly assess my performance using the IB's grading rubric, which is something that I had not done with my teacher at school. I believe that a clearer understanding of what the course expects from me is an instrumental factor to my progress in the subject thus far.

Oscar's classes are always dynamic and exciting, and his help has been invaluable to my performance at school.

I would like to take this opportunity to personally recommend Oscar, who I worked with via Skype and email. As a tutor, he is very well-prepared and familiar with the syllabus and its requirements, keeping up with changes in the new syllabus.
