About Ian
I am an early-career quantitative researcher with previous experience analyzing survey and geospatial data at labs at Stanford University and the University of Pennsylvania. I use causal inference methods like generalized linear regression modeling (usually in R or Python) daily. As a Teaching Assistant at Haverford College, I tutored students in statistics and research methods. I have also tutored students of all ages in Spanish and English as a language teacher at non-profits in Mexico and the U.S. I completed my B.S. at Haverford College in 2022 in Psychology and Statistics.

I center my lessons around connecting math and statistics to contexts you care about: art, business, sports, food, etc. I like to begin with a quick warm-up, e.g. a quick review from a previous session, and then get into the topic you most want to work on. When diving into a topic, I lead with concrete examples as much as possible, slowly working in the more abstract theories and notation. Finally, I like to finish by applying the concepts we've talked about in new problems.
I have taught all ages, having spent the most time working with college students. I have seen how useful statistics for making decisions in all kinds of contexts. I would love to help you reach your goals, whether you're looking to pass an exam or apply this knowledge to help you make decisions for the rest of your life.
