About Abbie
About Me Hi there! I’m Abagail Stricklen, a passionate psychology tutor dedicated to helping students understand the fascinating science of the mind and behavior. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from West Virginia State University, am currently in my second year of Liberty University's Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program, and I’ve worked with students across different levels—from high school to college—helping them master psychological theories, research methods, and applied concepts with confidence. I’ve always believed that psychology isn’t just something you study — it’s something you experience. My goal is to make every session engaging, relatable, and personally meaningful. Whether we’re breaking down complex theories, analyzing case studies, or preparing for exams, I focus on helping students connect ideas to real-world behavior and develop critical thinking skills. When I’m not tutoring, you can usually find me journaling, spending time with my rescue pups or working on my stationery business! I love bringing curiosity and creativity into my lessons to make learning both enjoyable and effective. If you’re looking for a tutor who’s patient, encouraging, and deeply passionate about psychology, I’d love to help you reach your goals — one concept at a time.

My Approach as a Psychology Tutor Teaching Method & Techniques My approach to tutoring psychology is centered on understanding, application, and connection. I believe students learn best when complex theories are broken down into real-world examples and engaging discussions. I use a mix of teaching techniques such as: Active learning: encouraging students to analyze case studies, design experiments, or apply theories to current events. Socratic questioning: guiding students to think critically and develop their own insights. Visual aids & summaries: using diagrams, mind maps, and charts to make abstract concepts tangible. Practice-based learning: integrating sample exam questions, research article analysis, and APA-style writing exercises. A Typical Lesson Plan Each session is structured to balance understanding and application: Warm-up (5–10 min): Quick review of previous material or a short discussion question. Core Lesson (25–30 min): Explanation of key concepts, illustrated with examples or short videos. Interactive Practice (15–20 min): Activities like applying theories to scenarios, identifying variables, or interpreting study results. Wrap-Up & Reflection (5–10 min): Summary of key takeaways and a mini quiz or discussion prompt to reinforce learning. Follow-Up: Optional study guides, flashcards, or reading recommendations for deeper understanding. What Sets Me Apart What makes my tutoring style unique is my emphasis on connecting psychology to real life. I help students see how the concepts they study relate to human behavior, personal growth, and everyday interactions. I also focus heavily on helping students build confidence—not just memorize terms. My sessions are encouraging, adaptive, and tailored to each learner’s goals, whether academic or career-oriented. Who My Lessons Are For My lessons are designed for: Undergraduate psychology majors seeking help with foundational courses like General Psychology, Research Methods, or Abnormal Psychology. High school students taking AP or introductory psychology who want to boost their understanding and exam performance. College students preparing for exams, essays, or research projects. Anyone interested in psychology who wants to better understand human behavior, relationships, and mental health concepts.
