About Matthew
I am a research fellow working for Exeter Medical School. I have experience in teaching science to GCSE and A-level students as well as biomedical/biological science to undergraduates in Exeter. I am particularly keen on teaching the more tricky aspects of genetics/molecular biology and have developed different methods to try to get these complex topics across. I have also been responsible for the development of a MOOC (Massively Open Online Course) on genetics which is freely available and has been taken by >10,000 people around the world.

I don't have a strict methodology as every person I have taught has been different! While I am comfortable with using presentations in a more formal 'lecture' style but would always follow this with two-way learning, where students engage with the topic. I also enjoy and find it helpful to use 'props' for molecular biology and genetics as well as open discussion to make sure students are comfortable.
