About Sophie
I've always had a deep love for mathematics, graduating with a masters (MMath) from the University of York in 2017. My speciality is pure mathematics, particularly algebra, but I also enjoy graph theory, number theory, and probability. My dissertation focused on the probability of card games, and I've also written a chapter on the application of the postman problem to the game of Pac-man for a group paper on graph theory. I also competed in country-wide maths competitions when I was at secondary school.

No-one is inherently "bad" at maths - you've just not found the right teacher.
I'm at the beginning of my tutoring journey, having tutored sporadically during my undergraduate degree. My approach varies individually from pupil to pupil, tailoring sessions to best suit their needs and abilities. I enjoy the challenge of finding new ways to explain mathematical problems and their solutions, and love the moment when a person finally "gets it".
