About Soby
I am a Biochemistry student at a Russell Group university, offering personalised support in GCSE Biology, Chemistry, and Combined Science. My lessons are designed to help students understand difficult topics more clearly, build confidence, and make steady progress towards their goals.
Studying Biochemistry gives me a strong foundation in both Biology and Chemistry, and has helped me develop a deeper understanding of many of the topics students meet at GCSE level. I enjoy breaking down complex science ideas into simpler steps so that students feel less overwhelmed and more confident in class, revision, and exams.
Alongside my academic background, I have experience supporting learners in educational settings, including working with children in a primary school and supporting pupils with different learning needs, including SEN. This has helped me develop a patient, adaptable, and encouraging teaching style that I tailor to each student.
I understand that many students struggle with science not because they cannot do it, but because they need clearer explanations, structured practice, and the confidence to ask questions. My aim is to create lessons that feel supportive, focused, and personalised, whether a student needs help with weak topics, revision, exam preparation, or general confidence in science.

My lessons are tailored, supportive, and designed to help students make clear progress in GCSE Biology, Chemistry, and Combined Science. I adapt each session to the student’s level, goals, and areas of difficulty so that lessons are focused, effective, and easy to follow.
I work particularly well with students who need help understanding difficult topics, revising effectively, or building confidence before exams. Lessons can be used for topic-by-topic support, homework help, revision, exam preparation, or strengthening weaker areas. I also understand that students learn in different ways, so I aim to explain concepts clearly, check understanding regularly, and adjust the pace where needed.
Depending on the student’s needs, lessons may include:
- Breaking down difficult science concepts into simpler steps
- Targeted support with weaker topics
- Exam-style question practice
- Revision planning
- Help with scientific vocabulary and key definitions
- Improving confidence with longer-answer questions
- Active recall and memory techniques for science content
My teaching style is warm, patient, and structured. I want students to feel supported, but also challenged in the right way so they can gradually become more independent and confident in their learning.
