About Violet
Bonjour! I’m Violet – an experienced, degree-qualified French tutor and language enthusiast, offering personalised French tuition for learners of all ages. I hold a BA French degree from the University of Bristol and a Trinity CertTESOL teaching qualification.
I offer one-to-one online French tuition tailored to a wide range of learners – from adults learning French for fun, travel or work, to school-age students preparing for their GCSE and A Level exams.
My approach is structured, supportive, and tailored to the needs of each individual student, making the learning process not only effective but also enjoyable!

With several years of tutoring experience of French and English as a Foreign Language, I am equipped to help you on your language learning journey.
During my time as a tutor, I have supported GCSE and A Level students helping them build confidence, improve academic performance, and prepare effectively for exams. I have also supported adult learners, learning for work, travel or fun. In addition to French, I teach English as a Foreign Language to both children and professionals.
My academic journey and year abroad in Bordeaux, France has given me an in-depth understanding of the French language and culture. Having started French from scratch at school 10 years ago to achieving fluency in my degree (University of Bristol), I know what it is like to embark on a new language entirely. I am excited to share my knowledge with learners of all ages and levels!

There’s a misconception that languages are inherently difficult - but they're not! My approach is about breaking down the confusion and making things simple, clear, and step-by-step. I focus on explaining grammar and language structure in ways that actually make sense, using memory-based techniques that reflect how we naturally retain information.
My approach is about building a genuine understanding, sparking curiosity, and inspiring a genuine interest in French by making the language feel relevant, accessible and enjoyable. I also help students connect exam content to real-world language use, so they don’t just learn French for an exam - they learn it (hopefully!) for life.
I'm committed, patient, and passionate about unlocking each student's potential. I believe that with consistent effort and clear guidance, every student can achieve outstanding results!

My lessons take place via Zoom and are booked in 6 week blocks for adult students, and in half term blocks for school age students.
