About Charlotte

Native French tutor from Normandy specializing in AP French (1–4) and DELF exam preparation (A1–B2). I help students improve grades, pass exams, and build confidence in speaking, listening, grammar, pronunciation, and writing.

I offer structured, results-driven lessons tailored to AP and DELF requirements, with targeted practice in oral production, comprehension, and exam strategies.

I hold two MBAs (France and Syracuse University) and bring strong international experience from working in France, Switzerland, Hungary, Poland, and the US. This allows me to explain French clearly and adapt to English-speaking learners.

Online lessons available via Zoom (evenings and weekends). Proven track record with positive student reviews.

As a native French speaker based in North Carolina, I have been tutoring middle school, high school, and college students for over 12 years. I specialize in helping students build strong foundations in French grammar, verb mastery, and overall fluency across reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

I am highly focused on grammar and am known for my ability to explain complex rules in a clear, simple, and structured way that students can actually apply. My goal is not just memorization, but real understanding and long-term retention.

I also enjoy incorporating French culture and current events into lessons through relevant videos and materials, helping students connect language learning with real-world context.

Many of my students achieve long-term success. For example, one student worked with me for three years, consistently earned strong A grades throughout high school, and developed full mastery of French verbs across all tenses.

I have extensive experience in essay correction and writing development, providing detailed, constructive feedback on structure, organization, grammar, and vocabulary expansion to help students write with greater clarity and sophistication.

Please note: I exclusively tutor middle school, high school, college, and adult learners. I do not tutor elementary school students, except within structured French immersion programs.

My teaching approach is structured, rigorous, and results-driven, with a strong emphasis on grammar accuracy and expressive fluency.

Find out more about Charlotte

  • Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

I was born and raised in the city of Rouen, which is the capital of Normandy in France.
  • Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

As a native of Rouen, I would certainly mention Joan of Arc, which was sadly burnt at stake on May 30th, 1431. Her story is phenomenal and so inspiring
  • Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behavior in the language that you particularly like?

I really enjoy when French people debate and talk about any subjects, without being too political correct. Voices might be raised at times, but everyone is heard and leaves the table without any hurt feelings.
  • Why does speaking this language matter to you?

As a native speaker and having lived abroad most of my professional career, I feel that French is such rich language and deserves to be nurtured.
  • What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

The difficulty of French is the written grammar and the fact that they are so many exceptions to the rules.
  • How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

I have lived and worked in 5 countries and I have been impressed in some cases by the high fluency of some of my business partners: extremely impressive, especially in Central and Eastern Europe.
  • What makes you a Super Prof in language?

I have been helping students of all ages for the last 10 years and I have learnt along the way various tricks to help understand some of the most difficult points of grammar. I have met so many terrific students, and can proudly say that I help them to improve their scores. In one specific case, I help a student prepare for an entrance placement tests at a highly competitive high school, and after a whole summer of bi-weekly meetings, she exceeded her initial goal.
