About Jay
I have been a Mathematics teacher for 5 years working with a diverse set of students. I started my journey as a teacher working as a private math tutor in college, gradually working my way up the ladder. Every student I tutor, I make a commitment to the student and their family. I promise the student and their family that I am going to improve the academics and also get their child inspired or curious about the different fields of Mathematics. Everyone has potential and since I love movie quotes here's one from Ratatouille "You must be imaginative, strong-hearted. You must try things that may not work, and you must not let anyone define your limits because of where you come from. Your only limit is your soul. My teaching method comes down to understanding where my students are currently. Once I determine the strengths and weaknesses of my students, I create a personalized battle plan that can evolve over time based on progress. My only requirements when I tutor my students are to please silence your technology and be ready to have an open mind. Since we are working on Math, please also have a notebook and a writing utensil. My method to tutoring/teaching is all about application. What good is having knowledge yet not knowing how to apply it? I make sure there is always an opportunity to apply what my students learned today in their lives.
