About Lukas
Hi, my name is Lukas and I like to help people overcome difficulty in math.
Throughout my educational career I was blessed with really good math teachers that had taken the time to communicate the concepts well and help me when I struggled to understand. I want to take the same approaches that led to my success and apply them to your success.
I realized early that being good at math was not good enough to teach. Teaching is its own skillset that requires good communication and the ability to take complicated concepts and break them down into bite sized pieces that when combined lead to a deeper understanding.
I have been tutoring math for many years and have helped many people through the problems they may have. I teach through interactive examples, visual examples, and a focus on the actual questions and problems you have been assigned.
I want to see you succeed and I will do my best to help you get the skills to independently solve your homework questions on your own. I want to build your confidence in math.

My job as a tutor is to get my students to have a deeper understanding of the concepts. My goal is to guide my students to have their own "ah ha!" moments, where the material just clicks.
With math specifically, if we are dealing with specific equations, I will try to help you understand what those equations look like geometrically (visually), and analytically. When we understand math through multiple perspectives, you gain a deeper understanding of what we are trying to do and how to do it well.
Additionally, I will try to give context as to why these concepts are important to know, and how they apply to practical problems in the real world. I always found that if I knew the why, I would have to motivation to understand and succeed.
My lesson plans are direct.
We look at homework questions that you are assigned. We will do questions together, both the student and I will work through the material. When the student encounters difficulty (when I notice them struggling, or they ask for clarification) we will slow down and go through the specific problem slowly. I will make sure they gain the information necessary to successfully attempt and complete the problem.
My tutoring is mainly aimed at middle school and high school math students, as this is who I have primarily tutored in the past.
