I believe in a slow and steady learning technique. I would explain every concept with a real life example and from the root. So, the student understands the reason behind learning this concept. I would make learning a new love to the student. Also though it consumes time for understanding I would never skip any of the concepts. So the essence of the subject is completely observed by the student.
