About Carol
I taught English for 32 years and from seventh grade through 12th over those years. I was English department chairman at one time. I was a bit of a rebel when we were expected to teach the same test both in our high schools and as state schools that required literacy English testing. But I did it anyway, and my students passed. I have helped seniors in high school write college essays and in one case a young woman wrote 10 essays and got into 10 universities. I myself write poetry and short stories, and I’m planning to write my life experiences with the four men that have affected me and taught me. While my direct education experience was many years ago, I have continued to be aware of the impact of the English language on how we present ourselves, what kind of occupational success we have, and how we are understood or not in our relationships. Furthermore, in both of my master's degrees I received a 4.0 GPA. My first master's degree was in English education and in Liberal Studies. My second was in Mental Health and Addiction Studies.

My lessons begin with a question. That question could involve spelling-grammar, punctuation, vocabulary and paragraph writing to college entrance essays or business reports.
Such a question might be - example- pick five of your favorite words or five of your favorite thoughts and ideas. Develop them into an autobiographical story. Use proper sentence structure, the most appropriate vocabulary and creative writing that draws in the reader or clarifies a situation in a report.
My lessons are relevant to life today and to the student. Reading of literature is living experience that can be related to the individual. Or in my opinion, if not, it is useless work.
There also is the lesson that allows a goal to be reached such as getting a job, such as graduating from high school, such as going to college or trade school. English is in everything we do and everything we want. The student is the driver, English is the means to make an A or B in any class or success at any work assignment. I help the student to gain confidence and self appreciation.

Details
My pricing is for the basic interactive lesson with both teacher and student Sharing aspects of the English language. If I have to prepare anything more than an hour, I would add five to 10 dollars to the session. If by chance we can meet together somewhere in between where we each live, I would charge $10 for the travel.
