About Mina
I was born in Tokyo, Japan, and moved to California in 2016. I had to get used to the American culture and learn English, as well as try to fit into specific unspoken rules that were different than what I was used to.
My hobbies are video games (I have a total of 1.6k hours on one game!), music (mostly piano, singing, and of course listening), and photography.
I have been tutoring students of all ages from 5-year-olds up to 46-year-old for 3 years! Anyone is welcome, I have no age limit/speaking level.

Knowing the struggle to learn a new language can be rare. With the experience of living in Japan for 10 years, my lesson includes teaching the culture as well as teaching the language. It is important to know what people are like in the country, too.
Beginners/kids are welcome! I can teach all levels :)
- First trial lesson (30 min):
To get to know each other first, or if you are just trying to figure out which tutor you get along the most with, I offer a free trial lesson for 30 minutes. In this limited time, I will go over what my class will be like--or we can just have a nice chat :D
- Japanese help/support (outside OK):
Do you need help with your Japanese class/school assignments? I got you! If you have outside assessments that you need some assistance with, I can support you through. This could be studying for your next Japanese test at your school, Japanese homework help, asking questions about the language/culture, etc.
- Conversation:
If you just want to talk with a native speaker to improve your speaking, or you want to have a convo while learning a language, this course is for you. We can talk about anything you want, and I can adjust between casual talking and more of a learning experience. This course does NOT include resources--but please let me know if you have the materials that you want to use, I am flexible. (Not recommended for beginners for this course--some knowledge is preferred. If you are just starting to learn Japanese but want tutoring, go check out my "Japanese for beginners" course!)
- Japanese for beginners (with materials, personalized):
Are you interested in learning Japanese but don't know where to start? Ugh, that was me with English 6 years ago... I am here to help! :) This course is designed for beginners to learn both languages and Japanese culture. Not only grammar and vocabulary practice but the class also consisted of culture and learning about what people are like there. This course is also welcome to people who want to live or visit Japan near future, I can give advice on some housing and popular tourist areas.

Mina is an amazing tutor! She is so patient with me, and willing to help me grow as a student. She is also very responsible and professional. I’m also glad that she herself has experience in learning a new language, I feel like it’s hard for teachers and tutors to know that struggle.
Before meeting Mina, my opinion towards music was always negative. It was boring to me, especially because I’ve been a sport guy my whole life. With her, though, she led me through to find a different view towards music and made me enjoy it! I’m actually currently taking music lessons and it is going well. Me 3 months ago won’t believe me if I say I’m taking music lessons instead of going to my baseball practice.
