About Jordan
I hold a first-class master's degree from the University of Warwick and I am an incoming PhD student at Imperial College London focusing on theoretical and computational condensed matter physics. I have conducted several independent research projects, including one funded by the undergraduate research support scheme at the University of Warwick focusing on the theoretical and computational modelling of materials. During my time at university, I have been tutoring students in my class privately for over 2 years. Not only has this allowed me to gain a better understanding of how best to break down complex topics but also has given me an appreciation for the differences in learning styles between learners. This is something I aim to include in my lessons! These students have now successfully graduated from university and will attest to my enthusiasm and passion for communicating and teaching science. Additionally, I have experience tutoring GCSE level mathematics and physics.

Lessons will typically be one hour, but I am flexible with the student if they would like shorter or longer sessions. In these lessons, I will blend lesson-style lecture content with interactivity where we solve problems as we go along, talk about concepts more in-depth and try to gauge understanding as we go along. I like to determine and focus on students' weaker areas and tailor lessons to their specific needs. Additionally, I think setting a few homework tasks is a good idea for some students, and then going through them together, explaining each step as we go through. So far, my tutoring experience has been with other undergraduates at my university, privately tutoring for over a year for one student, and two years for another. Additionally, I was an instructor at a summer school in partnership with the University of Oxford aiding students with their university applications and producing both lecture content and leading live sessions where problems were solved together in an interactive manner. My lessons will span from the start of secondary school to undergraduate level in physics. For the other STEM streams like Chemistry and Maths, I will teach these from the start of secondary school up until the end of A-levels. I am a very friendly person who encourages questions and creates a safe space for these questions and ideas.

Jordan would regularly run revision sessions for me during our exam season. His thorough understanding of the most difficult concepts in Physics, coupled with his ability to give clear and concise explanations made the material infinitely easier to digest and I often credit his tutoring as the sole reason for me getting through exams successfully!
Jordan really has what seems like unending patience for explaining any topic that would cause me confusion in physics, even at the university level. He’s always been able to break things down and tailor his explanations in a way specific to my style of learning, and if I ever go back to get another degree in physics, he’s the man I’d look to for help.
