About Sydney
I am currently completing my MPhil in Medical Law at Oxford University, after graduating from Oxford with a First Class BA in Law. I also hold a Master of Management and a BA(Honours) in English Literature from the University of British Columbia. At Oxford, I have been awarded several scholarships for academic excellence and placed first in my college for final results for my BA. I received a score of 170 (the 97th percentile) on the LSAT before deciding to pursue Law in the UK. I have been through the UCAS process twice now, and both times received offers from all of my chosen universities, including Oxford, St Andrews, UCL, and Edinburgh. Reading, writing, and problem-solving are my strongest skills and greatest passions. My aim as a tutor is to transfer those skills to others, allowing my students to find joy in them as well. As such, I have worked as a tutor since my time in the IB Program and throughout my university education, helping students with everything from university applications and reading and writing skills to my most specialized subject—medical law

I use patient and kind communication to engage with my students and help them thrive. Reading and working through essays, literature extracts, and personal statements in a collaborative manner is essential to my tutoring style. My approach centres on listening carefully to my student’s needs and tailoring explanations to match their pace and learning style. Rather than simply providing answers, I help guide the student through the learning process, asking questions and encouraging critical thinking. Mistakes are treated as natural learning opportunities, and the atmosphere always remains calm and supportive. My students and I work as a team to set goals, solve problems, and build lasting skills.
I work with students of all ages and abilities, typically in lessons between 30 minutes and 2 hours. I currently have full availability.
