About Emilia
I am a first class honours graduate in English Literature from the University of Birmingham. After completing my bachelor's degree, I went on to undertake a postgraduate diploma in acting, and now work as a professional actor and actor musician. The analytical skills that I acquired as an English student have very much followed me into professional, working life. In fact, interpreting scripts; language, metaphors, synonyms and narrative devices remain an integral part of the job. I have been professionally employed in at least five Shakespeare productions since graduating, and thus feel confident in my capacity to help students who may be studying the Bard and his poetry. I was mentored by one of The Globe's education practitioners to successfully deliver workshops to schools across the country, including Bedales, Rendcomb College and the Aurora Eccles SEN school. I am also myself an avid writer, poet and spoken word performer, and have had my work published by Kensington & Chelsea Art Week, as well as performing it myself on various festival stages.

My sessions run in 1 hour slots and are tailormade to accommodate the needs of the student; be that essay writing, analysing a text or improving use of vocabulary and grammar. My focus can depend on curriculum criteria- if the student is working towards an exam or submitting coursework. As a former GCSE and A-level student myself, I know how specific these assessments can be. My goal however, is to help students form their own opinions in what they write, and in doing so, bolster their narratives effectively, accurately and concisely.

You won’t find a warmer and more welcoming teacher than Emilia. She is an incredibly talented professional musician who will make the experience of learning cello exciting, fun and accessible - whatever your age or ability. Emilia is fab! So instinctive and generous to learn from - recommend
Emilia is a gifted musician who is passionately committed to her craft. This comes through in her teaching along with patience, humour and temerity. She is also a stickler for correct technique, which I really appreciate!
Emilia's work ethic, passion for the arts and music is second to none! I've seen her work firsthand with students of various ages and her ability to encourage critical thinking, theory and practice across different abilities. She is calm, fun and approachable with an exceptional knowledge of both Music and English literature. A clear-thinking, enthusiastic and all-round good person, who stands out in whatever she puts her mind to. Emilia would be the perfect addition to your study journey!
The most immediate positive trait that Emilia displayed in our lesson is that she immediately showed adjustments needed to make in my cello technique after noticing that my hand position could be improved - that is really appreciated as she attended why I was feeling tension in my hand and that provided ease in further learning of instrument. She reacted to what I was going through in a supportive and friendly approach and those are the most important aspects for me in getting tutored.
