Hi, I'm Maia :)
I am a graduate from UCL, where I achieved a First Class Honours in BA Spanish and Latin. I have taken A levels in Maths, English, Spanish and Latin, achieving 4 A*s for A level, and 11 9s for GCSE. I have over 4 years tutoring experience.
I have a passion for learning and enjoy giving others the confidence and support to perform at their best.

My main focus in structuring lessons is adapting them to the needs of each individual pupil. I take time to speak to my pupil to understand their strengths, weaknesses, current grade level and aspirational targets. I use this knowledge to plan a schedule of lessons, breaking down difficult material into more manageable chunks.
Prior to each lesson, I take time to prepare activities that address specific topic areas. Activities that may be covered in class include topic teaching, thematic essay mind mapping, sample essay writing, exam-style practice questions and past papers. For languages, I will also focus on grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, listening and speaking practice.
My goal is to improve exam results by first improving the knowledge of my student, and then applying that to exam-facing situations. It is important to be familiar with essay technique and problem-solving with the correct methods. I make sure to check-in regularly with my student to assess progress, introduce new topics and find out what teaching styles best suit their development.
