About Marissa
I'm a Chemical Engineer with several years of industry experience and a strong academic background, from school through to university. My achievements came not just from hard work, but from finding and refining study methods that worked for me.
I know what it's like to struggle with a subject and wish someone had helped me find the right approach sooner. Through my own experience and tutoring, I've learnt that every student learns differently. I hope to help students discover their strengths, understand concepts with greater confidence, and work towards their personal goals.
Beyond academics, I'm also familiar with university applications, career pathways, and job interviews, and I'm happy to share what I've learnt to help students prepare for their next steps.

I'm a First-Class Chemical Engineering graduate from one of Malaysia's leading universities, with several years of industry experience. I have around one year of formal tutoring experience, teaching Mathematics, Coding, and English at student support centres. I've worked with children as young as six through to students preparing for SPM. I also have years of informal peer-tutoring experience from my school and university days.
How I Teach
I believe every student can learn with the right guidance, patience, and a clear goal. Every student learns differently, so I adapt my lessons using visual aids and step-by-step explanations to find what works best for each learner.
To me, teaching is a two-way process. If you don't understand something I've taught, it is my responsibility to explain it differently until it makes sense. My method works best for students who wants to understand and apply concepts they have learnt.
Lesson Duration
My lessons typically last between 30 minutes and one hour, depending on the student's age, attention span, and learning needs. I want every lesson to be engaging, productive, and long enough to practise what we've learnt.

I welcome primary and secondary school students of different abilities and learning needs. Whether you need help building a stronger foundation, tackling difficult topics, or gaining confidence in a subject, I'm happy to work with you at your own pace and find an approach that works for you.
