About Oliver
I'm Ollie, 21, based in Hertfordshire. I graduated from the University of Southampton in 2026 with a 2:1 in BSc Finance and FinTech, a degree where I used maths every day for three years rather than forgetting it after A-levels.
I wasn't always good at maths. In Year 11 I was sitting on a grade 4 and had accepted that was just who I was. I ended that year on a grade 8, and the thing that changed wasn't working harder. It was working on the right things, in the right order. That's the whole reason I tutor the way I do.
I started helping friends at school with the same approach, then took it into proper tutoring in October 2023 alongside my degree. Now that I've graduated I do it full time.
What I care about is the moment a student stops feeling stupid. Most people don't dislike maths, they dislike being lost in a room of thirty people and not wanting to put their hand up. I keep sessions relaxed, I explain things in plain English rather than textbook language, and I would always rather someone asked me the obvious question than nodded along.
I'm reliable, I turn up on time, and I'll tell you honestly if I don't think I'm the right fit.

I'm Ollie. A* in GCSE Maths, A in A-level Maths and Further Maths, and a 2:1 in BSc Finance and FinTech from Southampton.
I went from a grade 4 to a grade 8 in GCSE Maths in one year using a system I built for myself. I brought it into tutoring in October 2023 and since then I've seen students go from Cs to As and Bs to A*s.
Nobody gets good at maths in general. You get good at specific topics, and that list is finite. So session one is a diagnostic: we find exactly what's holding you back and turn it into a plan of action, weakest topic first.
Every lesson after that runs 60 minutes and follows the same shape. I explain one concept properly with a worked example, we work through questions together, then you try one on your own under exam conditions. I talk for about a third of the hour. You do maths for the rest, because that's the part that actually moves grades.
You get your notes and a recording after every session. Parents get a short progress update each month.
Lessons are online over Zoom, using an iPad so you can see every step written out. GCSE and A-level Maths, Further Maths and Chemistry. Edexcel, AQA and OCR.
I know how it feels to sit in a maths lesson thinking you're the only one not getting it. You're not, and it's fixable. I keep things relaxed, I explain in plain English, and there's no such thing as a stupid question with me.
