About Isabel
Hi, I am Izzy and I have always had a passion for maths but more specifically proving to others why maths is actually enjoyable. I haven't always thought like this, but I promise you once you understand it, it is actually really rewarding! My teaching style is clear and structured yet tailored to each student's needs/weaknesses- this ensures we are getting the most out of each session and helps the student build confidence in their own ability. I typically use a range of practical examples, step-by-step run-throughs and exam-style questions to ensure students' depth of knowledge. I would describe myself as confident, relatively relaxed yet hardworking. I always aim to create a safe, pressure-free and non-judgemental environment for students where they feel like they can express any confusion and feel comfortable to ask questions when they don't understand.

My approach to tutoring is student-focused yet flexible. I aim to build students' understanding and confidence in mathematics, as well as proving it can be enjoyable. I adapt my teaching methods to each student, by using clear explanations, step-by-step guidance, and real-life examples to make difficult concepts more accessible. Lessons are typically one or two hours long- this provides enough time to explore topics/weaknesses in depth while keeping students engaged. I have an A Level in Maths and obtained a 9 in both maths and further maths at GCSE. - Alongside my A Level studies, I tutored multiple GCSE maths students to grades 7 and above for their GCSEs. I supported their independent revision and helped to eliminate errors and misunderstandings in their knowledge, by adapting our tutoring sessions to match their areas of weakness. - This past summer I completed a summer internship at a secondary school within the maths department teaching, assisting and supporting in maths lessons. This provided me with extensive knowledge of the GCSE specification as well as experience teaching and supporting a variety of students. My lessons would be suitable for students of all secondary school ages and particularly beneficial to year 10/11 students with their GCSE exams upcoming. From those who need help strengthening their foundations to those preparing for exams and wanting to achieve top grades.
