About Mia
I tutor because I genuinely enjoy helping students realise that science and maths don’t have to be intimidating! Helping students see how science explains the world around us is incredibly rewarding. I’ve been fortunate to have inspiring teachers myself, and I want to offer that same encouragement and help students not only improve their grades, but to actually enjoy the process of learning.

I always start by identifying areas of weakness, so I can tailor each session to strengthen both understanding and exam technique. I often emphasise exam technique as it can make a huge difference to results; students may know the content but lose marks through small mistakes or unclear working. I help students break down questions to understand what the question is really asking, and teach them how to show working effectively, in order to gain every possible mark. I combine clear explanations with targeted, spaced practice questions, encouraging students to think critically and build confidence in applying concepts. Using these methods I gained six 9's and three 8's at GCSE, along with 3 A*'s at A-level, including Chemistry and Maths. I currently study Chemistry at Oxford and (obviously!) love chemistry and maths, so I'm looking to tutor those in need of any extra help with their GCSE's or A-levels.
