About Tomas
I have directed several fiction and animation short movies and I have written the screenplay for two successful commercial feature films. I have taught Brazilian Film classes at UCLA (2008-2012) and several film workshops over the years. I am currently working on a new short movie and remotely tutoring Film and Communication students at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC).

My classes and online tutoring are based on several workshops that I have given over the years, focusing on creating a screenplay for a short film or a feature film, examining its strengths and weaknesses, developing characters, improving scenes, defining a good structure.
Then we move on to key aspects of directing: how to choose shot type, camera position, camera movement, how to develop your own style, all with examples from classic films from the history of cinema.
We continue talking also about editing and post production, the importance of sound, and all aspects of movie production for the creation of a successful movie.

I learned a lot from Tomas. When I think about one of the biggest accomplishments of my life, graduating from UCLA, I have to think about Tomas Creus. I had several classes with him, his classes were diverse and kept all of us interested. In my class there were students from different cultures and backgrounds, but Tomas always had a way of teaching that brought all of us together. It is amazing how he can not only speak several languages, but he is also familiar with several different cultures. Tomas is the only professor I made sure to keep in touch with, he is an excelent professional and I am proud to say that he was my number one professor at UCLA!
