• Can you tell us about your first experience using a computer?

  My maiden voyage into the digital realm happened in the late '90s with an ancient, boxy desktop running Windows 95. I was enthralled by the noisy hum of the machine and the pixelated wonders of early computer games. I spent countless hours on Paint, crafting colorful digital 'masterpieces' that ignited a spark of wonder in me. It felt like discovering a new dimension, one that fueled a lifelong passion for technology.

• What is the technological evolution that has marked you most and what will be, in your eyes, a turning point in this field?

  The rise of the smartphone has been the most impactful technological evolution in my life. It revolutionized communication, information access, and even our daily routines. The idea of carrying a powerful computer in our pockets was once unimaginable. Looking ahead, I believe the next seismic shift will come with the integration of AI and machine learning, transforming technology into an even more seamless extension of our lives.

• Explain your expertise, your interest in it and, more broadly, its importance in the computer world.

  My realm of expertise is in artificial intelligence and natural language processing. I am captivated by the challenge of teaching machines to understand and generate human language. This field is critical because it bridges the gap between human interaction and machine functionality, making technology more intuitive and accessible. The significance of this work is seen in everything from virtual assistants to complex AI systems, enhancing our interaction with technology.

• Do so-called 'visionaries', such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg inspire you or do you have other role models?

  While tech giants like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Mark Zuckerberg are incredibly influential, my true inspirations are the unsung pioneers-engineers, researchers, and developers working behind the scenes. Figures like Ada Lovelace and Alan Turing, who laid the groundwork for modern computing, inspire me with their innovative thinking and relentless determination.

• Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

  During my university days, I participated in a hackathon where our mission was to devise a tech solution for a real-world issue within 24 hours. Our team created an app to aid visually impaired individuals in navigating public spaces. Though we didn't win, the experience was invaluable. It taught me the power of teamwork, creativity under pressure, and the profound impact technology can have on people's lives.

• What would you say to an uncomfortable person in front of a screen who says that "IT is too complicated"?

  To anyone feeling daunted by IT, I'd say it's perfectly normal to feel overwhelmed at first. Think of IT as a giant puzzle-start with the edges and corners before tackling the more complex parts. Begin with the basics, seek guidance when needed, and remember that every expert started as a beginner. Technology is here to assist us, not to intimidate us.

• What are your other passions, related or non-related to computers?

  Beyond the digital world, music is a major passion of mine. I love playing the bass guitar and taking abstract photos. Music, much like coding, is a form of creative expression. Additionally, I enjoy food and cooking and immersing myself in nature. It provides a refreshing contrast to the digital realm and helps me stay grounded and inspired.

• What makes you a Superprof in IT?

  My combination of technical knowledge and genuine enthusiasm for teaching distinguishes me. I aim to demystify complex concepts, making them engaging and approachable. By tailoring my approach to each learner's needs, I strive to not only educate but also inspire a love for IT, showcasing how it can empower and transform lives.
