About Audrey

I am a music graduate from University of Birmingham, United Kingdom with a Master’s Degree in Music Performance. Experienced in teaching classical voice and piano for 8 years with strong relationship-building skills and leadership from young kids to adults. I have started my musical journey with piano and electone at 6 years old, with strong performance professional with a Degree in Classical Piano and Masters for Classical Voice. Taught at various music institutions and academies in Singapore and Malaysia. As a vocalist, I have participated SSA Chamber Choir Festival, BBC Proms Youth Choir at Birmingham University, United Kingdom and The Yeomen of the Guard Birmingham Choir Performance at The Birmingham Symphony Hall. Education and Qualifications: -University of Birmingham, United Kingdom Master’s Degree in Music Performance -Yamaha Academy of Arts and Music, Kuala Lumpur Diploma in Music -ABRSM Classical Vocal Grade 8 -ABRSM Piano Grade 8 -Trinity Performance Certificate Classical Vocal. -Yamaha Grade Examination System, Teacher Level Grade 5 Performance and Fundamental in Piano and Electone.

About the lesson

Generally, I approach my lessons by firstly connecting with my students personally to form an effective lesson plan that would be suitable for them by first understanding what they desire to achieve. I understand every student is different and I want to help them in every practicable manner possible. I also ensure a progressive and comfortable learning environment. I’ve prepared students for exams, performances or even as a mere pursuit as a hobby. I also provide classroom games, listening exercises, and teachings based on musical videos and picture books. I also offer to perform duet performances (casual) with my students and also accommodate to teach and perform demanded songs and renditions requested by my students, be it piano or voice. For beginners, I recommend and offer 2 lessons a week (an hour each) as a strong foundation development through interactive and extensive activities and exercises which will result in a faster learning curve and a more beneficial music experience while developing a strong and close teacher-student relationship bond. Voice Lesson: I base my classes on breath support, phrasing, vocalization, text clarity, projection and hearing. The breath support is the elementary of singing. In terms of phonation, doing vocalization can help the singers to find their right placement of voice. With the beautiful phrasing, it enhances the direction of the music. The proper clarity of text helps the music speak better and clearly. Voice projection is consequential so that the opposite side will obtain the clearer information. Piano Lesson: I will coach the learner on Aural Skill- learn to hear every note you play by reading it (Sight Sing, Ear Training, Improvisations, etc), helps to develop great Musicianship Skill. Music Theory - to learn to read, write and identify how music works in a piece. Besides that, I do provide pop piano course too. Able to communicate in English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Malay.
