I'm a Scottish student studying for a master's in Government, Policy and Society at the University of Edinburgh with advanced higher courses taken in English and Modern Studies. I always start by getting to know the student's particular gripes with the course, and then forming a teaching plan based on developing the skills needed to excel in the subject. I try not to stick too closely to what the students could learn in school, and focus more on personal development and learning discipline, with occasional homework tasks not being too rare. The main advantage of tutoring over teaching is that my lessons can be crafted by what I think the student finds most interesting in the course, thus maintaining interest which is just a win-win for everyone.
