About Charles
I studied with Charles Castleman for 5 years, as well as Glenn Basham and Ruggiero Ricci. I have been a busy professional violinist in this area for 20 years, performing the full season regularly with the most high-end orchestras: the Naples Philharmonic, the Florida Grand Opera, and the Palm Beach Symphony.
I enjoy teaching serious students who work hard, are disciplined, and eager to put in the work and focused hours necessary to achieve excellence. When a student comes in well-prepared, hungry for more, and reaching for excellence, then I know that what I am giving is not wasted. That, then, is a very good experience for everybody.

Each new student present a new world of possibilities and goals. I won't charge a student a lesson the first time we meet because we are just getting to know each other and deciding if it is a good fit. After that, I will be able to determine where the student is on his or her technical and musical development and I will work so that he or she organically grows into a more complete musician over the next 5 years.

Details
My rate is $75 per hour lesson. This is low compared to my teachers ($275 per hour is standard for high-end teachers). Teachers just starting out often charge $55 per hour or even less.
I base my rate on the expertise, experience, and education that I have to offer my students. I do not base it on time or travel, so a 30-minute Zoom lesson is the same price as a 2-hour lesson where I travel to you. That said, I feel that thirty minutes is not enough time for a lesson, and anything over an hour is usually too exhausting for any but the most advanced college-age students.
