About Stretch Couture
Stretch Couture was established in Virginia Beach, Virginia which is located in the heart and soul of Hampton Roads. Stretch Couture was born in 2001 out of necessity. There was NOTHING available for plus size women that had a great fit, was fashionable, and most importantly affordable. I struggled to find formal wear, swimwear, and even Halloween costumes. Now Stretch Couture is here to meet your needs from the closet to the catwalk.
Stretch Couture offers custom clothing and crafts made for that special day, every day, or the runway. Specializing in custom made to order apparel, swimwear, dancewear, costumes and special event attire. We also offer accessories and pet clothing.
I have over 20 years of sewing experience starting with 7th grade home economics. I have since trained with designer Marc Jacobs and also studied on my own. I look forward to working with you soon 😀😉🤗

I love being able to teach someone a new skillset. I especially love to empower youth. It is a great feeling to say "I made this myself" so I love to give that feeling to others.
I have been a youth mentor for a while and so I started incorporating sewing classes into my curriculum since it was a skill I could share.

Seeing the looks on the kids face after they completed the assigned task. Ms. Phillips is easy to work with and she is always professional and on time.
This sewing class was very informative and hands on. Sonya was very patient yet efficient with being able to explain and show a wide age range of people how to turn a piece of cloth to a hair-bow and bow tie in two hours! She left us with instructions and planted a seed that may lead to future designers!
