About Sifu Derrick
Whitlow's Academy of Wu Gung Tao teaches authentic Chinese Gung Fu and Wu Shu from the Wu Clan Traditions of the Henan province of China. Sifu Dr. Derrick P Whitlow I is a descendant of Shifu Loi Wei and the Black Martial Arts Masters. He has received the Bronze Medal at the PKC (Professional Karate Commission) in 1998. Sifu Derrick Whitlow was inducted as a member and honoree of the United States Hall of Fame in as a Practitioner of Chinese Gung Fu 2019 and for 2021. Sifu Whitlow teaches Wu Gung Tao (The Way of the Protective Martial Skill). Wu Gung Tao incorporates several systems of the Martial Arts: NY Ying GA (5 animal fist systems), muay Thai and Chinese Kickboxing, Wing Chun and Feeding Crane Systems, Shaolin Gung Fu, and Tai Chi Chuan. All of these systems are taught out of a boxing stance for street combat. Come train in both the Northern and Southern Gung Fu systems with one of Wu Clan's best Dragon teachers of Chinese Gung Fu. We train once or twice a week over a period of 3 months to develop an effective Martial personality for self-defense and a good healthy lifestyle. At Whitlow's Academy of Wu Gung Tao, a student's Martial personality is developed within 3 months as they continue to be exposed to the full pathway of the Chinese Martial Sciences over the total course of training. Each sash is worth 2 traditional belt levels in other systems of Martial Arts. Focus Mitt drills and weapons Training are included as the student continue their kung Fu training as they advance into the full understanding of Wu Clan Gung Fu. Tests and advancements are certified through the International Wu Clan for the Students achievements. A student may train for a variety of reasons including semi- tournaments to full-contact Professional fighting for both local and international competition. Once a student becomes a Practitioner of Wu Gung Tao, their training is on-going according to how far they want to progress in the disciplines of the Martial Sciences.
