About Steve
As an 8th degree black belt with over 45 years of experience I am considered to be an authority in the field of martial arts and self defense.
I have worked with CEOs, Film and Sport Celebrities, and members of Royal Families.
I have been inducted into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame and in 2018 I was inducted into the Who's Who in the Martial Arts.

I am a historian and practitioner of the martial arts and have over 45 years of experience learning from the very best.
I have been inducted into the martial arts Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Who's Who of Martial Arts in 2018.

Master Steve Ross is Owner and Chief Instructor of Orange County Academy of Martial Arts (f.k.a. West Coast Tang Soo Do Karate Academy). Recently inducted into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame and is the highest-ranking Certified Master Martial Arts Instructor in the art of Tang Soo Do (a.k.a. Soo Bahk Do) here in Orange County.
He has spent most of his life in association with martial arts and self-defense. He began his studies in 1971. Prior to his dedication to the ancient Korean art of Tang Soo Do, he studied Tae Kwon Do, Jiu Jit Su, Goju-Ryu, Judo, Aikido and Hand to Hand Combat.
He is recognized around the world for his academic knowledge and technical skills and abilities in the art of Tang Soo Do. He has served as the bodyguard for various celebrities, taught members of Royal families, CEO’s and instructed Hand-to-Hand Combat techniques to military personnel. He has also worked in motion picture industry with actors such as Jean-Claude Van Damme, Don "the Dragon" Wilson, Cynthia Rothrock, Louise Gossett Jr. and Peter Coyote.
Master Ross has devoted the majority of his life toward helping others to understand the principals of self-defense and to develop the skills required to master the martial arts.

I first start with a review of what is the students motivation for training. Then I assess where the student is physically and find out their level of knowledge.
Next, I work at their level and work with them until they are comfortable and gradually increase the challenges.
