About Stefan
I help students seeking to improve their English comprehension and speaking skills, through historical cultural tours. Students can improve their English speaking, reading and writing skills by learning about New York City and the Hudson Valley region.
As a Cultural Tour Developer and licensed New York City Tour Guide, I have escorted numerous school groups, as well as visitors from around the world. My knowledge of both Spanish and French allows me to connect and communicate with people on a more personal level.
I started teaching at the Harlem Center for Education back in 2000 as a computer instructor. I also tutored middle school students at various schools within New York City during after school programs to assist them with improving their academic skills.
As the Computer Education Specialist at the Harlem Center for Education, I developed an interactive curriculum that combined printed and online learning resources. A licensed New York City tour guide since 2003, I have escorted students throughtout the five boroughs speaking with them about the fascinating history of a world class city.

The first step is to determine whether the student considers themselves to be at the beginning, intermediate, or advanced level. The second step involves scheduling some time to speak with potential new students directly as a way to get to know them, and begin to build rapport as a way to make them feel comfortable. Learning a new language can sometimes be intimidating, and it is important to let students know that although mistakes may be made, it is part of the process and can actually help them to improve upon the skills that they already have, and further assist them in acheiving their desired goals.
Primarily middle school through college age students, but I have also worked with a good number of seniors.
Someone who is going to be patient with, and does not get upset if you are unable to grasp a certain concept. Everyone has different strengths and learning styles, and a good teacher knows that when it comes to learning, one size does not fit all.
