About Jay
Having completed my teacher training and gaining my PGCE in English in 2021, I knew that I wanted to take that next step in my own education and pursue a Master's degree. Combining my desire to further my own learning with a desire to use my teaching skills to help others, online tutoring became the obvious solution. Since starting online in 2021, I have completed my MA in English Literature and have begun my doctoral studies in the same. Alongside that, I have taught many students (some for hundreds of hours) and helped them improve across the board. Results consistently exceed predictions and I could not be prouder of that fact. With a training in traditional education, a high level of qualification in the field itself, and experience tutoring online, I know that I can help you unlock your potential and reach your goals.

Having started tutoring online in 2021 after completing my teacher training, there are a few things that I have learnt about offering the best classes possible. Students learn best when tutors act as a guide, not a strict instructor. Rather than trying to turn students into robots with perfect memories, my lessons focus on teaching the skills and techniques that students can apply to all kinds of topics in order to achieve success. Critical thinking, close analysis, and mastery of structure is key in English but can certainly help other subjects as well! My lessons are appropriate for anyone studying English literature or language at GCSE, or students studying Literature at A Level. With years of experience and thousands of hours helping students at these levels reach their goals and exceed their predicted grades, I know that I can help you take that next step.

Jay tutored my dyslexic son for three years in which time his marks in English dramatically improved. Initially he was struggling in school, and his marks were beginning to drop; he was feeling frustrated and despondent in class. Jay took time to get to know my son to find out what his interests were and his capabilities; tailoring their sessions to challenge and engage.
The tutor sessions were always enjoyable, and Jay encouraged my son to push himself to keep improving.
