About Hannah

My service stands out because I invest in the client as an individual as opposed to a generalization. You can be struggling in any kind of school subject, but everyone grasped concepts a different way. By taking the first session just to introduce who I am and learn more about you, the student, we develop a better, more perseverant relationship. It is very hard for me to not put my %110 into everything I do. I love helping students like you and I hope I can inspire you and anyone else to discover new doors or even simply change a routine in your life. Whatever it is, I care about you are your success and I also care about you getting the best quality of teaching that you can get through my services. I also don’t charge for the first meeting or conversation because I want you to be comfortable with me and my expectations for business. :)

Another aspect about my services that I noticed not a lot of other business do is keeping in touch after the client or student has been helped. I take initiative to send message encouraging students on the nights before big tests, or before starting college. However, I personally make it a point to keep in touch with my students and clients because I wan’t to 1) make sure I did you well through my business and 2) see how I can continue to help you and even help you to help your friends or others that may be struggling. In a nutshell, I genuinely care about what service I’m putting out there and I always want to ensure satisfaction.

I love being able to help an individual take a concept that they didn’t know or understand the first thing about and guide them to someone who can write a 10-page report about by the end. I love learning new areas of the various fields I know and of course, I love all the students I’ve either worked, consulted, or tutored with the past 7 years.

While the business isn’t my first and foremost, I want students to tell other students about what I can offer them. I would love to be able to use this kind of platform to reach a ton of people and thus teach them to teach others what I taught them.

I was introduced into academic tutoring when I was 15 or 16 in high school. I was a part of this club called “Peer Helpers” and essentially each one of us was paired with a struggling student, regardless of grade or age, based on what our academic strengths were. In my case, the present time suggested I tutor English- which I loved doing of course.

I continued to be a member of this club for the next 3 years and I loved every second of it. I knew when I got to college, I wanted to be able to do something similar, such as be in a tutor lab or be involved in some sort of way if I wasn’t too busy.

College was definitely a time where my academic strengths were challenged, my thinking was molded into that of some who can see a problem and give a solution instantaneously. College built on so many of my hard and soft skills and I most definitely credit those four years to my current disposition as a master and teacher of several classes. It is a very rewarding job when you can transform someone’s grade from an F to and A in a semester, or even simply be there for a high schooler who’s parents aren’t in the picture too often.

I have always had a thirst for knowledge so I’m always open to learning new subjects or diving into something I already have be acquainted with a little bit deeper.

In terms of my educational experiences, I graduated from a public high school in a small town called Hagerstown, IN. I was awarded my diploma with high honors due to lot of participation in several clubs and societies I was a part of and thus, this gave me a significant amount of scholarship money for all that hard work.

After that, I moved to Indianapolis, IN and got my B.S. in Exercise Science and a double minor in psychology from the University of Indianapolis. I’m presenting attending Butler University for my M.A. in School Counseling with a concentration in mental health counseling and high school/higher education academics. My first year of my program was completely paid for via scholarships I applied for based on academic excellence and character.

Now, I’m not trying to sound narcissistic when I mention this, rather I want anyone and everyone that requires my attention to understand I take academics and helping others very seriously. Time is precious so I want to make sure I emphasize how hard I have worked the past 18 years of schooling! ;)

Once I’m finished with my M.A. at BU, I’ll hopefully have been accepted into a PhD or PsyD doctoral program to pursue my career as a sports psychologist. However, I do keep an open mind if something else in the field catches my attention.

I will provide a list of each area in depth on my website regarding each invidual are of expertise and what I’m the most and least well-versed at!

*Disclaimer: I’ve been freelance until this year in terms of helping others through my tutoring services. Now that I’m going through this website, my process will change slightly, but those who were previously working with me will still be on my agenda!*

When I start working with a new client, the first and foremost thing I like to understand is 1) what they either want to achieve in terms of goal or objective by the end of the class and 2) what changes are they willing to make to reach those goals. I like to get to know the person so that the client-teacher relationship were creating is a strong one. One that will last many more years.

I am constantly learning new aspects about the world so I will take just about any request from 7th grade through the Bachelorette level. With that being said, I strive to not only understand what the client’s goals are, but how they achieve those learning strategies. I teach each person based on what they like to see either visually via YouTube or other platform or hear via podcast or other auditory measure.

To understand the learning style is a must, but at the same time, depending on disposition and age, I also encourage the changes that will have to be made later on down the academic road (i.e. APA format, different approaches, etc). Other than the that, I invest a lot of time into my clients and personally make it my own goal to change their perspective on whatever it is they are struggling with and help built on the fundamental elements of thinking that they wil continue to use for the rest of their life.

The way I look at helping others through academics is based around the mindset that I won’t have a ton of time with them, so I have to make it as worthwhile as possible. This means being creative, elimiating monotony of subjects like organic chemistry, and utimately instilling a new habit that they can take with them and thus, spread to others. We are all teachers and masters of our own classes. Why not spread that?

I’ve worked with every age group you can think of in terms of being in the healthcare field partially, however my tutoring and teaching experience tends to be around grades 7 and up all the way through most college degrees (with exceptions and negotiations of course).

I’m very skilled with high school and students ages 18-24- quite possibly because I’m a little biased as a young adult, but I’m open to any new challenge. I appreciate someone who goes out of their way to make themselves a master of many classes!

Read through their answers and see if their goals for the service they are providing to you is inline with what you expect to get from seeking academic services. If you have two people who are like-minded and on the same page from the get-go, there is so much more room for improvement and potential i the long run. These individuals seem to tread towards being your key references and source of networking in the real world.  Also, ask them questions about why you should use their services as opposed to others. This is a good way to see how confident a tutor or teacher holds themself in their sense of purpose.

I recently took a week-long trip to 4 different states - with Hawaii being our longest stay and of course, our priority to begin with. I went to Washington D.C. and then Haleiwa, HI, and then on our way back home, we went to LA in Cali and finally the Longhorn State of Texas.

It was just my mother and I traveling so it was nice to be able to get away from school and work for a minute and just practice mindfulness on the island of O’ahu! We were celebrating the end of another school year for both of us (my mom works in education) and even better, we got to celebrate her early birthday which is next week! I had a great time and I can’t wait to travel next summer again!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I personally like to know two aspects of a new student working with me:

1) Why are you seeking academic services through ESA?

2) What are your goals or objectives that you expect to come out of this.

Another question that you could typically ask yourself or that parents should consider is duration. Is this a one-week thing or more like an every year thing?

Depending on my strength in the subject we are working on, my price range is anywhere from $25-$50 a hour. For tutoring that will last longer than a week or two, I typically charge around $25-$30 an hour, whereas those who need help for a very short amount of time will pay more so towards the $45-$50 range since I have a shorter window of time to hopefully teach as much as possible! I always negotiate with price through. It will always be up for discussion. (That goes for driving distance as well) I always encourage long-term clientele , even if that’s not always possible.
