I started teaching at age 14! I wanted to earn some extra money, so I walked around the neighborhood offering piano lessons. I was very accomplished at piano at a young age and was excited to share it - I've been teaching ever since!
After years of learning piano from some amazing teachers, I auditioned to be a student of a renowned concert pianist named Giacchino Longobardi. I studied under him learning piano techniques from the Neapolitan School of Music. My first paid gig was at the age of 12 and I started teaching piano lessons at age 14. When I was 16, I performed at Carnegie Hall with the Empire State Youth Orchestra.
I have spent my entire life submersed in many types of music. I have conducted choirs, performed with orchestras, and performed in piano bars. I have been teaching lessons for 14 years and have taught hundreds of students from age 3-70!

My first priority is to learn what you want to learn! There are so many avenues to go when learning music, so I start by getting to know the student and what their desires are. For most younger beginner students, I start with lesson books that teach sheet music. But for many older or experienced students I first spend time getting to know the student's skill level and type of music they are trying to learn. I can teach students how to read sheet music, play by chords, or both!
I have worked with almost anyone out there. I've taught students who want to go to college for music and students who want to just learn for fun. I've taught how to read sheet music, how to read by chords, and many different styles.
Discuss what your goals are and how much time you will have to work towards them each week. The more your teacher understands what you're looking for, the better they can help you.
I always enjoyed my piano recitals. I always loved how my older students inspired the younger ones. The younger ones would always watch seeing what they could become if they practiced hard.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What type of music do you want to learn? Are you serious or just playing for fun? In one year from now, what would you like to be able to play?

My daughter had several piano teachers before Katie, but none of them compared to her. After Katie moved out of state, she tried other teachers. However, none of them was able to connect with her like Katie did. She is patient, but always pushes her students to reach their full potential.
My daughter started working with Katie in May 2021 and I can already see lot of progress in her piano skills. Katie's lessons are very organized and communication with parents are great. My daughter is only 7 years old and she is very good working with little kids. She has the ability to keep their focus towards the lesson for entire class. Additionally, Katie offers virtual lessons, that's an added bonus since it perfectly fits both mine and my daughter's schedule. Highly recommend her for any one interested in piano lessons.
Katie makes each lesson fun and does a great job of keeping my kids focused on their lesson. They really enjoy their lessons and are progressing very nicely! My youngest is only 5 but Katie has worked with us to figure out the best ways to keep her excited and interested in learning the piano. My 12 year old is learning very quickly and you can see how proud he is with himself as he conquers new abilities each week. Katie is wonderful with both of my children! Highly recommend!
Katie is patient and very knowledgeable. She communicates very well with her students. We are having a great time!
Katie is great with my son, who can be a challenge! She is patient and reliable. I like that the lessons have a structure and work systematically through learning note reading, theory and musicality. He's come so far in a short amount of time. I would recommend Katie to anyone!
