About Derek
For beginners: I will teach you the basics of how to take great pictures. No experience is needed. I recommend you have a camera that has the ability for the user to manually adjust shutter speed, aperture and ISO. If you don't know what those terms mean, then pleae reach out to me and I will assitit you. I will provide handouts to keep as reference resources.
Intermediate and Advanced Photographers: I will teach you how to make money with your cameras and/or make photography your career. Must have knowledge and undersatnding of F-stops, shutter speeds and ISO is required. I will also tech you lighting techniques which is what separates professionals from beginers.
You will learn how to make money in the following areas of photography: headshots; corporate portraits; swimuit; product; lifestyle; stock; food; real estate; landscape; hospitality. I will not be covering Wedding or Event photography.
The goal is to get you to the point where your images will make you money.
I've been a working professional photographer for 20 years, up to date on all aspects of photograhy and Photoshop. In other words, I know what I'm talking about :) and imparting my knowledge is a pleasure for me! Samples of my work can be found here: dereklattaphotography.com

I love photography because it is a combination of art, science, and technology. I love the fact that photography encompasses all three. It is a joy for me to teach others on how to use all three of those areas in order to make a beautiful image they are proud to display in their home or sell to others.
Every shoot comes with its unique set of challenges and opportunities. No two shoots will ever be the same. There is no 'boredome' when photographing. Taking prictues and sharing them with the world is a way to cement your legacy.
I started teaching actors and models how to take their own headshots. That gave me the love of teaching photography.
I also taught other photographers how to make money with their cameras.
I am a self-taught photographer. I did not go to photography school. I learned the hard way making tons of mistakes along the way. When you learn that way, you never forget.
I have spent hundereds of hours attending at all kinds of photography and photoshop workshops around the country as well as hundreds of hours reading photography techniques and watching online photography courses.

Actors, models, professional and amateur photographers.
Make sure the instructor is capable of teaching you at or above your current photo knowledge level. If you are too advanced for what they are capable of teaching, you will be wasting your time and money. Conversly, if thery teach too far above your level you won't learn effectively.
I recently did a class in an art gallery on how to create a portrait with one flash/strobe and an umbrella. We had two professional models on hand.
The students were so happy to learn how easy it is once they know the basics of lighting and camera settings.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Make sure you get a detailed description of what the instructor plans on teaching you.
I have a questionnaire that I have my potential students complete so I know their level of photo knowledge and what they want to learn from me. If I can't help them, I won't waste their time or money.

Able to ask questions and get immediate feedback
He is a wealth of information and experience. Not only did he explain how to get the shot, but also explained the mechanics of what was happening inside my camera. So, I was able to get amazing shots that showed movement and told a story. But also, I now have the skill to be able to use this technique in creative ways in the future. He is a FABULOUS instructor.

Details
My pricing depends on what the student wants to learn. It all depends on how much knowledge and materials I will be providing and the number of hours they want or need.
For example, if a student is a beginner and just wants to learn the basics of a certain type of photography (i.e. how to make headshots for social media profiles), I charge $50 for one hour session. For 2-4 hours bookings it's $45 per hour. More than four hour sessions is $40/hr.
If a student wants to learn how to make a living in photography, I charge $150/hr.
Some lessons can be done over Zoom or Facetime, etc.
