About Larry

I am not going to try to sell you on buying more expensive equipment but help you get the most out of what you have to work with, help you with lighting seeing the light and taking better pictures.

When you come to my class I would hope you have read the manual and please bring it with you. I can help you learn to change the setting on the camera but would rather you know how to work the camera and I teach you why you would want to change them.

We can meet at a coffee shop, or if warmer at a park. Forest park is a great place to meet.

When you send me e mail please e mail what camera you have.

I have been looking thru a lens since 1981. I have a BS in Mass Comm. I worked in TV for years shooting video and also still photos, now I just shoot still photo.

I love what I do and love to share it with others. I have taught and mentored many, including children. I also teach sport photography to parents wanting better photos of their children. I am also a member of the Professional Photographers of America

Years ago I found out I like sharing what I do with others. I was often told I was good at it.. I worked at an ice rink years go as a rink guard and we had to also teach skating classes.. Then I fell in love with rollerblading and even got certified to teach rollerblading. I started working in TV in 1981 and was always getting asked about what I did and showing others.

When working with a new student. I like to start with the basics. As a photographer you will always use the basics rules. If you are an advanced photographer we will touch on the basics then mover forward to where you want to be.

Most of my student are adults. I have just started working with two of my grandchildren 8 and 11.

Look at the teachers work. Are they photos you like.. Are the teachers photos all landscape but you want to learn sports photography?

I would have to say the first time my grandchildren and I went out on a photo walk. I love the creative photos they came up with. The 8 year old had one of her barefoot 11 year old had a great self portrait of his shadow on the sidewalk.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What do they want to learn? Do they have the time. In photography the more you photograph the better you get. Also what do they like to photograph. If you like to hike and want to take your camera and shoot landscapes great, but that doesn’t mean you can shoot sports well after one class. Think about what you like to do. I like photographing people, so I do well with people and when I worked in TV I worked sporting events and now my grandchildern play sports.
