About Nicola
Pikola Makes provides classes in knitting, crochet, and sewing.
I learned to knit and sew at my mother's elbow from a very early age. She would make all of our Halloween costumes and fancy clothes, and encouraged us to help and learn. By age 6, I was hand stitching clothes for my dolls from scraps of fabric, and by 8, I was making clothes for myself on her trusty old Singer.
Around the same time, I learned how to knit when my mother taught my Girl Scouts troup, and while scouting didn't turn out to be for me, I kept up knitting through middle and high school. In college, I served as VP of my school's knitting club for several years. There, I learned to crochet, and also started teaching knitting and crochet to new members of our club.
