About Lucy
I have tutored students on and off for many years. I have taught high school and college level courses and coached teams for science competitions. I have experience teaching all levels of math including calculus and many science classes including physics, astronomy and chemistry.
I enjoy working with students 1 on 1 and helping them learn techniques to succeed in their course work.
I started tutoring friends and peers in high school, and continued tutoring on and off after college. I taught as an adjunct instructor at John Carroll University, later at University of Akron, then at three different high schools.
I have taught high school and college level courses in all math courses including calculus, and many science courses including physics, astronomy, and chemistry.

I usually work with students that are struggling with a current class. They bring me the classwork and show me where they are stuck and I help them with those specific areas.
I have worked with students of all ages and abilities including ESL students and autistic students.
Sometimes you need a concept explained in a different way and then it will click. Finding someone that has experience teaching these concepts in a classroom will give them insight into how different students struggle when learning a particular concept.
My nephew, who is autistic, will call me periodically to ask me a question about his physics homework and I am able to answer his specific question so he can complete his assignment quickly and correctly. It makes completing his homework so much easier and less stressful, which makes me happy to be able to help.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Does the student need help for a short time or as needed, or does the student need regular help each week? Does the student have any learning challenges that should be accomodated when finding appropriate learning strategies? Does the student learn best by writing, listening, or watching?
