About Christian
*My goal is to help students learn in a way that is easy and interactive.

*New to online tutoring, but prior experience as in-person college tutor.
I got started teaching at a young age because I was forced to teach my younger siblings. My single parent never finished elementary school so it was up to me to help my siblings learn at home. One is three years younger and two are six years younger, twins. A more formal way of teaching was in college where I was a learning assistant for classes I had received an "A" in previous semesters. I would grade papers and tutor other students around my age.
I went to college to study biomedical engineering because electronics and medicine interested me. I recently graduated from college and am about to begin medical school. I chose not to go into industry because my goal is to become a doctor that integrates technology and medicine. Through college, I amassed science and math knowledge and learned to teach college students, but through tutoring work, I want to fine-tune my communication skills and improve my teaching skills.

I will begin with introductions and let them talk about their interests. This will help me understand the student and allow me to format the lessons in a way I think will optimize their learning. Additionally, this will establish a connection between myself and the student, which will help them feel comfortable and more willing to engage in the lessons. It will take 1-2 lessons for me to gauge how well they retain the information. Depending on the results I will either continue with the lesson format or change it until the student feels comfortable and understands.
The only experience I have with students with an age gap of three or more years are my siblings. All other experience teaching students was at a college level.
The advice I would give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise is to contact them first to speak with them. Try to ask the teacher if they understand the subject the student is having problems with. If the teacher conveys an understanding of the subject and seems like they have a good lesson plan then they should be a great candidate tutor for the student.
A recent event I was fond of was my acceptance into medical school. It was a long journey where I had to work multiple jobs in college to pay bills and balance my school work. All the hard work has paid off, but I still have to continue my hard work in medical school.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should think about the ethical aspects of their questions before talking to teachers about their needs. By this I mean that the student should not be looking soleyly for answers. If they are seeking tutoring then they should aim to understand the subject so that the lessons benefit them in the long run.

Details
I have a standard pricing system for my lessons where I charge by the hour. For K-12 it will be $30 per hour and for college-level subject's it will be $60 per hour. Since I have just begun online tutoring my prices are lower than the average, per google.
