About Hannah
Passion: I love to teach math. I pride myself in being able to build a connection with my students and seeing the light on their faces when they understand what I'm trying to teach them.
Experience: I am a business calculus instructor at Mississippi State University as a part of my graduate teaching assistantship through the mathematical science PhD program. Furthermore, I tutor in the Learning Center on campus in various college-level math classes.
Because I personally enjoy math so much, I will do anything I can to help my students gain an appreciation for the subject.
My first formal experience with teaching started in Fall 2019 when I taught two sections of business calculus as part of my teaching assistant duties at Mississippi State. And y'all. I fell in love with every aspect of teaching. I hope to continue my academic endeavors and finish strong as a leading professor/research in my field.
I have a bachelor's degree in Computational and Applied Mathematics from Rice University (Houston, TX), and I am currently working on my PhD in Mathematical Sciences at Mississippi State University (Starkville, MS). I have tutored peers in a variety of math subject throughout my academic career, and currently I serve as a graduate teaching assistant for the math department, where I teach a class of my own (business calculus) and tutor undergraduate level math through the MSU Learning Center.

I believe a successful student begins with a good relationship with the teacher. I try to foster a comfortable, safe learning environment for new students so that we can make the most amount of progress in math. Depending on the subject (standardized testing, supplementary instruction for a class, etc), I will cater the lesson plans for each session to the student after gauging their knowledge of the current subject.
Find someone that you get along with who not only is knowledgeable about the subject, but who is willing to explain it in millions of different ways until you, not "everybody else," get it.

I usually charge $45 for 60 minute sessions and $65 for 90 minute sessions per week. If the tutoring is expected to be ongoing or more frequent, the pricing is up for negotiation.
